Instructor Training - Washington State Regional (WA)

Westport Police Department is hosting a BolaWrap instructor course. This course is open to certified members of law enforcement only. 

The BolaWrap Instructor Course will certify instructors to train end-users on use of the BolaWrap pre-escalation device for a period of 2 years. The course commences with a classroom portion that will include:

     1. Welcome with course overview and history

     2. Discussion of what a successful BolaWrap deployment is

     3. A legal overview of BolaWrap's place in policing

     4. Device safety

     5. Device overview and nomenclature

     6. Device operation

     7. Deployment considerations

     8. Tactical considerations

     9. Post deployment considerations

Following the classroom portion, instructors will experience being wrapped and deploy a minimum of 6 BolaWrap cassettes through live deployment drills and scenario building exercises. The course concludes with testing and certification.

Officers must wear long pants to experience being wrapped. Please bring eye and ear protection.
